POETRY WORKSHOPS
I wholeheartedly believe in passing my knowledge and love of poetry and spoken word onto others in an engaging and welcoming environment. Typically this is achieved through a peer-led group rather than a traditional 'Teacher-student' setting. Through the skills gained through a Level 2 in Creative Peer-To-Peer, I ensure that all participants are engaged on an equal footing and leave the facilitation up-skilled. I have a clean DBS check that can be produced on request and I am able to travel.
I offer a variety of tailored poetry writing and performance workshops that are suitable for all ages and skill levels, from blackout poetry to performance and traditional writing workshops.

DREAM TIME CREATIVE CIC
What an honour to be in a position to have enabled Simon Widdop to deliver his workshop this morning.
After the 12 participants had settled in I left him to it promising to be back in time to hear any performances that may have come out of the workshop. I am so glad I made it back in time.
The quality of writing was extraordinary, clearly an indication of sensitive and thoughtful planning with this mixed gender, mixed experience group of writers. Each participant chose to stand and share their work. That's unusual with novice writers so they clearly felt safe and supported. Each person shared their truth and then, with true professionalism and kind feed back Simon was able to give precise, sensitive suggestions with regards the delivery of one or two lines.
He tuned in to the different needs of each member of the group beautifully and watching him work was delightful. The glow on the faces of the group as they shared and grew was powerful.
I think very carefully who I collaborate with. DTC's philosophy is one of positive mentoring, support and non-judgement. I am proud of Simon as a person and a poet.
12 people arrived to Simon's workshop this morning; 12 poets left.
ROUNDHAY & OAKWOOD FESTIVAL
Simon ran a poetry workshop as part of the Roundhay and Oakwood Festival entitled Anger Is An Energy.
Simon allowed all the participants to engage with their emotions and then got them to create a poem about something that angered them about their life or the world.
Many found the process very therapeutic.
It was really appreciated by the newly fledged poets who found inner poets and were very creative with their poetry.
