In Which Oxjam Was Oxfab

The pun is piss poor I know, but let's get past it and on with the rest of the blog.

Whilst I didn't get to explore the full festival, I will say the talent on the Acoustic and Spoken Word Stage was incredible. Every artist gave it their absolute all. Dan Greaves gave us a beautiful and warm start to the day, Jess Edwards brought some haunting melancholy songs, Helen Rhodes bore her soul with outstanding prose and twisted fairy tales, Disguises snuck into our hearts (pun intended), Fran Bundey had the room swaying to hypnotic vocal loops, The Bleeding Obvious opened our eyes to everyday house hold objects and to the plight of our siblings in the LGBT community before Louie James brought the Art House to a crashing close with an array of Punk Blues. Sadly Henry Raby and Matt Nicholson couldn't join us on the day but you NEED to check their material.

Oxjam was an incredible success and I take my hat off to Matty Townsend and the entire team, for getting this all in motion so quickly and professionally. You've all done Wakefield proud! From the closure of two initial venues, to a couple of line-up changes, nothing stood in the way of a dedicated team of organisers and volunteers.

Here's to 2019!!!
